A FINISH THAT FITS YOUR HOME

Start with the wood.
Then choose the finish.

The species, grain, original color and previous coatings all matter. We assess the surface and discuss samples before committing to a stain direction, whether you want to retain warmth, change the tone or choose a painted finish.

Handrails and staircase details

Handrails, newel posts, balusters and other agreed staircase components can be scoped together. We identify the exact surfaces and discuss access during the work.

Wood doors and entry details

We review doors, sidelights and trim for a refresh or a more extensive refinish. Exposure, wear and the existing coating help determine the preparation.

Cabinetry and architectural woodwork

Stain and clear finishing for suitable wood cabinetry and details, including white oak. Samples help establish the color, grain appearance and sheen.

WHAT WORKING WITH US LOOKS LIKE

A clear plan.
Careful work.

01

Assess and sample

We look at the wood, wear and existing coating, discuss your goal and develop a sample for stain work. Photos help us begin; the surface review establishes the scope.

02

Prepare the surface

We clean, sand and address the agreed repairs. If the existing finish needs to be stripped, that preparation is discussed and included in the proposal.

03

Finish and review

We apply the selected stain, clear or painted system, check the details and explain care and any access restrictions while the finish cures.

PLANNING YOUR PROJECT

What shapes
your estimate?

The number and shape of the components, existing coating, stripping needs, access and sample development affect the estimate. A simple refresh and a complete color change can require very different amounts of work. Send an overall view and close-ups of worn areas.

Before we begin.

Can you make the wood lighter or change its color?

We can review the possibilities, but the wood species and previous finishes can limit the result. A sample helps establish what is achievable before proceeding.

Can you match an existing stain?

We work toward the reference color and prepare samples for review. Natural grain and differences between pieces of wood mean the finished surfaces may still vary.

Does every project need stripping?

No. It depends on the existing coating, its condition and the intended finish. We explain whether cleaning and sanding are enough or more extensive removal is needed.

Does staircase finishing include repairs or replacement parts?

The proposal identifies the finishing surfaces and agreed repairs. Structural repairs and replacement components require a separate discussion; they should not be assumed to be included.
